This weekend will see the Annual Celtic Snooker Challenge between
Wales and the Republic Of Ireland will be played in the
New Ivy Rooms Snooker Club In Carlow on the 4th and 5th of July.
This Year’s event will feature Junior U-14 & U-16 Snooker Teams.

The RIBSA U-14 Team is Tom Hogan Nenagh, Craig Robert Dublin
David Shoer Nenagh , Dylan Scully Carlow, Kenny Wight Youghal
and Aaron Tobin Youghal.
The RIBSA U-16 Team is David Cassidy Cork, Daniel O Regan Cork
Josh Boileau Newbridge, Daniel Dempsey Newbridge, Ryan Cronin Cork
and Glen Doyle Wicklow.
Both team have attended two days training with PJ Nolan and the boys are confident they can play their best game on Saturday.
Play begins on Saturday at 10.30am with both Teams playing
five Sessions of Matches.
On Sunday there will be a singles event and 8 players have recieved
wildcards to play in the Event along with the players on the
U-14 & U-16 Teams.
U-14 Wildcards : Andrew Doherty, Ross Doyle, Dylan Carey and Lee Walsh
U-16 Wildcards : Damian Collopy, Cathal Dunne, Andrew Gray
and Daniel O Mahony.

Snooker professional Fergal O Brien will star in a snooker Exhibition
in Ballina Co Mayo on Tuesday 21st July in Hineys Upper Deck, Crossmolina, Co Mayo.
Fergal will play a selection of players plus the Irish U-19 & U-21 Champion Jason Devaney.
The Exhibition is being organised by Deel Rovers Snooker Club.
Tickets are available @ € 10 each and it promises to be a great
night of snooker.

Some of our leading Junior players have been attending Summer Camp
Training days in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow.
The Camps are organised by PJ Nolan our National Coach.

The draw for the Sangsom 6 Red World Grand Prix tournament due to start
in Bangkok from the 7th to 12th of July is now available to view.
Some of the world's top professionals including defending champion Ricky Walden, Shaun Murphy, John Higgins, Ryan Day, Mark Williams, Jimmy White, Ken Doherty and our very own Brendan O Donoghue are all involved in what should be a superb event.

The 2009 Lucan Racing Snooker Classic will be held in Celbridge Snooker
Club from the 24th to the 26th July.
The draw has been done and it promises to be a superb event
with a top class field.
The 8 players are : Ken Doherty, Fergal O Brien, Michael Judge, David Morris, Joe Delaney, Joe Swail, Patrick Wallace and Brendan O Donoghue.

The Home International Billiards & Snooker Championships will be played in Pontins Holiday Centre in North Wales from the 4th – 11th September.
This Year’s event will feature a new format including Billiards and Snooker
with Snooker Teams in Under 16 and Under 19, Ladies, Seniors and
Over 40’s. Junior and Senior Billiards are also added this year
and it promises to be a great week of Snooker and Billiards.
The cost for all players travelling to this year's event will be €100.00
and this can be paid at the first training day.
Home International Team Training Days have been scheduled for the
26th July, 16th August and the 23rd of August with PJ Nolan in
the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club Carlow from 11am – 4pm
The Training Day on the 26th of July will be the day for fitting for the
players who have not got Irish Waistcoats
The full playing schedule is still to be finalised, but the 5th – 7th will be
for the Senior and Over 40 Events and the 7th – 10th for the Junior
and Ladies Events.
PARENT / GUARDIAN TRAVEL FORMS
All the under 18 players must have a Parent or Guardian travelling
with him to confirm his place on the team for this year’s Championship.
The Parent or Guardian must sign and complete the Agreement Form and
post it to RIBSA, Sport HQ, Parkwest Business Park, Dublin 12
before the 1st of July.
Only players who have signed agreement forms will be allowed to
travel with the team.

21 year old David Hogan From Borrisokane Co Tipperary created history in Belgium yesterday when he became the first Irish man to win the European Snooker Championship.


The Republic Of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association had a incredible championship with Tony Thorpe reaching the Last 32 and Brendan Thomas reaching the Last 16 in the Masters Event.
Brendan O Donoghue reached the Semi Final and Joe Delaney reached the Masters Final with Mario and David reaching the Men’s Snooker Final.
