Vinny Muldoon (Scratch) captured the Academy Classic on Saturday in Carlow beating Johnny Williams (+10) 3-0 in the final. Indeed the youngster was on top for all day winning the event without dropping a frame despite having to concede up to 50 points and winning one particular frame 89-88 after needing two snookers. Muldoon also notched up a superb 114 but was overshadowed by Johnny's 115 earlier in the day. All in all it was a good event with the likes of Carlow's Kieran Williamson (+50) and Nenagh's Darren Delaney (+25) reaching the semi finals but the two top ranked players came out on top in the final yet again with Johnny unfortunately losing the final for the second year in a row after losing to David Hogan last season.
