Tom Hogan
looks to be heading for a
perfect season as he
notched up his 5th
Under-14 Ranking event win
of the season in Carlow on
Saturday. The youngster
was joined by 30 other hopefuls
in Carlow for the event
and yet again he had no
problems in navigating his
way out of his group into
the knockout stages.
A 2-0 victory over
Oisin O'Neill in the Last
16 and another clean sheet
against Stephen Kelly put
him into the semi finals
where he faced his
toughest match of the day
against fellow New
Institute player David
Shoer. Shoer was more than
a match for the No.1 but
just lost out on the
colours 2-1 as Hogan
reached his 5th final in a
row.
In the other half of
the draw Josh saw off
Michael Hennessy 2-1
before beating Stephen
Bateman and Glen Doyle
with ease to reach the
final. The final however
had a familiar ring to it
as Hogan secured his No.1
spot for the season and
ran out victor for the 5th
time this season as we
wait for only the
championships to be played
in April.
As it stands we will
have five 1st time
Internationals represent
Ireland against Wales
during the summer as Josh
Boileau is the only
remaining player currently
in the top 6 from our
memorable victory in
Carlow last season when we
beat the Welsh 51-50 after
a 1 frame shootout to
decide the title.
