4 Championship Spots Claimed!

The first qualifying day of the Irish Championships has seen some of the heavy hitters of Irish Snooker come back with a bang as McCrudden, Murphy and Gilcreest joined Irish No.1 Rodney Goggins in the last eight in two weeks time.

McCrudden, a bit of a part time player this season saw off the challenge of Cork lads Ryan Cronin and Greg Casey to book his spot next weekend. Gilcreest overcame John Connors 4-0 in his final qualifying match while Murphy sent defending champion Jason Devaney crashing out 4-1 in a successful return to the tour.

They will be joined in the top half next week by Goggins who saw off the challenge of Daniel O'Regan, Josh Boileau and John Torpey to keep his chance of a Irish No.1 and Championship double alive.

Rodney also knocked in the high break of the day with a superb 113, Keith Sheldrick had the only other century of the day with a 109.

The full draw and results so far can be seen here
