St Pats snooker club, Gorey was the venue for a 2 day coaching camp Tuesday 31st July to Wednesday 1st August 2012. There was a great energy about the club as the days routines and talks were introduced by Dan Carroll.
Assessments of all the players was followed by Video and photos taken at various points of each players technique and the problem areas were then looked at with the emphases on changing these. Routines were set up to enable each player to show their skill and how to improve through quality practice. Talks on the psychology were given and well received by all.
The tactical side of the game which all the players saw as a good exercise from the break off to laying snookers, getting out of snookers and also the importance of practicing safety and the use of the rest. The club is one of the oldest clubs in the country and has produced great players.
John Doyle the chairman and organizer of events within the club is very keen to introduce his players onto the National junior rankings next season. One of his many hopefuls is Jordan Doyle who is the Stars of the Future All Ireland Champion 2012 and came 3rd in the World pool championships this year.
We look forward to seeing Jordan and the many other young prospects of the future arise from St Pats and get involved in the new season ahead. Thanks to all the players who are a credit to the club for their input during the few days and a special thanks to John Doyle for his great interest and help towards the sport it is these people who work tirelessly in the background and are at grass roots snooker that help keep our sport alive and well around the Country and I thank John and all those people for their support.
