Griffith €3,000 Snooker Tour 7 L-r Ronan Deegan (Winner) & Larry O'Dea (R/Up)

The final Griffith tour ranking event got under way at D'Arcy McGee's in Spawell Saturday 4th August. The competition was fierce as the players got down to business on the baize. The top 4 ranked players on the tour itself will be guaranteed prize money and also the top 4 ranked players on the plate ranking receives money prizes. Ronan Deegan had a good 2-1 win over number 2 seed Gary Seales in their quarter final match. Dave Seales was in fine form against Robert Rogers and went through to the semi final with a 2 nil win. Larry O'Dea was playing really good snooker and put out Anthony Clifford to reach the semis winning 2 frames to nil. To complete the semi final line up Dan Carroll beat Annette Newman 2 frames to 1. Larry O'Dea won the first frame on the blue but the second went down to the black, Dan had his chances but left the black on into the center pocket which Larry potted to give him his first tour final. Ronan Deegan had a close encounter against Dave Seales but Ronan won both frames to reach his third tour final in a row. The final saw Larry take the first but Ronan came back to level at 1-1. The third frame was hard fought but Ronan had a good Clearance on the colors to make in three in a row. Congratulations to Ronan and to Larry on his fine performance. After all the points were added up its congratulations to Annette Newman on taking the number one spot thus giving her the club champion title this season. Dave seales just pipped son Gary into runner up spot by frame difference. In the plate rankings Robert Rogers takes the number one spot closely followed by Anthony Clifford. Well done to all. The next event is the big prize money tournament to be held in Sharks Newbridge on Saturday 8th September. A special thanks to Paul and staff of D'Arcy McGee's at Spawell for their support and providing excellent playing conditions.
