Under 19 Team close in on title
The Under 19 Republic Of Ireland Snooker Team played outstanding snooker again on Day 2 of the Home Internationals in Pontins when they beat Wales 8-4 and drew with England B 6-6.
Josh Boileau played six frames in his two matches against Wales and England and he won each frame with unbelievable snooker. Fellow team members David Cassidy won against Wales 3-0 but was beaten 1-2 by England. Ryan Cronin lost 1-2 to Wales and then he lost the first frame against England on a re-spot and second on the black before winning his final frame to force a crucial final frame decider of the match involving Chris Cooney.
Chris was beaten by Wales 1-2 and was 2-0 down against England and 46 points behind with three reds remaining before the Youghal champion fought back to win the frame on the black to gain a draw against the team who is leading the event.
Team Coach PJ Nolan was so proud of all the players today and it is brilliant for Irish snooker to see our Junior champion follow suit after our Senior players won their championship earlier in the week.
The teams final match is against France at 2pm tomorrow and a win will put the pressure back on England B who need to beat Wales and France in their final two matches to stop our Irish team in winning the 2012 Home Internationals.
